About Apisignal Stack

A Leeds practice devoted to ESG factor comparison for listed companies — independent reading of public disclosures for research and stewardship teams.

Why we exist

Listed-company ESG conversation often collapses into a single vendor score. Apisignal Stack was founded to do the slower work: compare material environmental, social, and governance factors across the companies a client actually holds or shortlists, using the reports those companies publish.

We are not a ratings agency and we do not sell a software product. We prepare written comparisons and brief the people who must defend a recommendation.

Origin

The practice began in Leeds after years of equity research and stewardship support work where committees asked the same question: how does this name differ from its peers on the factors we care about? Score dashboards rarely answered that question in language suitable for minutes. Side-by-side factor tables did.

Operating from Level 9, 31 Park Row keeps us close to northern institutional clients while remaining independent of London product distribution.

How we work

  • Public evidence first. Annual reports, sustainability reports, AGM materials, and regulator filings form the base.
  • Peer sets you approve. We do not invent a universe and then surprise you with outliers.
  • Material factors only. We agree the factor list at kickoff so the pack matches your mandate, not a generic template.
  • Uncertainty stated plainly. Thin disclosure is labelled as such; we do not fill gaps with modelled scores.

People

Comparisons are prepared by a small analyst team with backgrounds in equity research, sustainability reporting review, and investment committee support. Briefings are led by the analyst who wrote the pack — not a separate sales role.

Values in practice

Independence means we will decline engagements that require endorsing a predetermined conclusion. Clarity means committees leave with disagreements they can name. Proportion means a board brief stays short when the agenda only needs a short read.

Clients we serve

UK and European research desks, family offices, and stewardship officers. We are not a consumer advice service and we do not provide personal investment recommendations to retail clients.
